You are not mean to be one size your whole life. - Dee Gautham

We’re fed a lot of myths about our bodies but I think the most dangerous is that the female body is “supposed” to be one size throughout our life — and anything but that means we’ve “let ourself go”
.
This false belief causes a panic of “IF-IM-NOT-THE-SAME-SIZE-MY-ENTIRE-LIFE-IM-A-FAILURE”… which leads to terrible body image and frustration at ourselves.
.
Look – Our bodies are not fixed entities, they shift / grow / shrink / change as we go through life.
.
Some periods in life you may wish to focus on moving more & making the GaInZ. Other periods you may wish to focus more on work or travel, and tone down workouts to just a few times a week.
.
As your priorities shift your body might too.
.
Our bodies like to fluctuate up and down around 10lbs from our “set point,” the weight we feel the best at.
.
Plussss woman things: Puberty. Pregnancy. Menopause. Metabolism changes. Our bodies shift, adapt, and adjust.
.
Despite what mama Kardashian says, it’s ok if your body doesn’t look the same at 25 and 55, if it changes shape after a kid, if it shifts as your priorities in life shift.
.
Again… this is very very normal!
.
It doesn’t mean you’re a failure.
It doesn’t mean you’ve “let yourself go.”
It doesn’t mean you’ll “never be fit again.”
.
It just means you have a normal, female body that adapts as you move through life with changing priorities and changing biology.
.
In these periods of fluctuation it can be helpful to have a general awareness of nutrition / training and how that affects your body shape + energy stores.
.
But please, don’t panic.
.
The whole idea of “the female body needs to be one size your entire life” is a myth perpetuated by an industry trying to make us feel more insecure and sell us stuff.
.
For some women, you might get back down to your college weight if you want to. For others it might be less realistic.
.
But really? Most “goal weights” are actually goal FEELINGS we associate with that weight. Focus on the feelings you want to attract, moving & eating to feel good every day TODAY instead of living in the past.
