Body Image Issues Are *not* About Your Body - Dee Gautham

Body image issues are rarely actually about our bodies. They‘re life issues that we have projected onto our bodies.
.
For me, my periods of worst body image were also when I felt lonely, separate, distant from everyone else – When I moved to a new school when I was 13 and I looked different from everyone. When I went to college and felt high academic and social pressures. When I was in a job that was not a good fit for me.
.
We‘re so conditioned to blame our bodies for everything negative in our lives, that whenever we feel negative emotions it’s normal to shift blame onto our bodies instead of coping with the hard things – loneliness, fear of judgement, criticism…
.
I challenge you – How can you cope with your uncomfortable feelings instead of taking it out on your body or food restriction?
.
👉 This can be a hard time of year with body struggles – family comments on your appearance, food is everywhere, anxiety is high. Remember to TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF (literally go on a walk outside for 15 mins without your phone❤️). See what comes up. 👉Feel the feels you need to feel. Process the feels. Let them pass through. Choose how you want to feel / what you want to believe about the situation as your truth.
.
Your body is on your side, it’s not your enemy.

Ya feel me?? Tell me below if this makes sense 👇👇

Happy holidays ✨ and remember you don’t have to earn calories ever or punish yourself for overeating 👍🏽
